Taking Stock: March 2016

Sorry for the radio silence! School has been pretty crazy lately, but I’m hoping to blog more in April.

Watching: Daredevil season 2. It’s really hard for me to write/talk about my favorite shows without spoiling them, so I’ll just say that season 2 was everything I hoped it would be and more. So, so, SO good. All of the new characters were amazing, and even though the Punisher is my favorite (obviously), Elektra runs a close second.
Stressing: Over homework. Finals are coming up in about four weeks.
Reading: I just finished The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes and Still Alice by Lisa Genova.
Journaling: Pretty sparsely this month. Mostly thanks to lackluster reading, tons of homework, and a massive show hangover (thanks, Daredevil).
Listening: To way too much Taylor Swift. My favorites are “Style”, “Out of the Woods”, and “Welcome to New York”.
Wearing: High heels for the first time in ages and wondering how I ever used to be able to run--much less walk--in them.
Eating: Lamb and Peking duck for Easter.
Also reading: Wolverine: Origin, Batgirl, Vol 1: The Darkest Reflections, Batgirl/Robin: Year One, Blue Beetle, Vol 1, and New Suicide Squad, Vol 1. I need to read more Marvel comics--DC is great, but there’s only so much Batman you can take at one time. Ditto for the Suicide Squad.
Craving: A really, really good YA book (any genre). It’s been a long time since I got the full-five-stars, sobbing-my-eyes-out, why-can’t-I-live-in-this reaction from a book, and I miss it.
Knitting: That scarf. It’s still nowhere near finished, but one day...one day...it will be. :) And yes, I did knit while watching Daredevil, so more than once I had one eye on my stitches and the other on whichever guy was getting beaten to a pulp onscreen. It was amazing.
Thinking: About starting up a blog specifically for reviewing comics and graphic novels. I barely have time to blog here anymore, but we’ll see. Maybe this summer….

Spring Break

Susan Branch. I am reading this book right now.:
via susanbranch.com

Spring break is almost here, which means a lot of wonderful things, including sleeping in, making a dent in my pile of unread books, and binge-watching Netflix, because GUESS WHAT’S PREMIERING ON THE 18TH? (Daredevil season 2. I’m just the tiniest bit excited about this.)
Here are some of the ways I’m going to enjoy spring break:

Read A Fine Romance by Susan Branch
I checked this out on Joni’s recommendation--it’s a hand-lettered, illustrated travel journal of a trip to England (starting with a six-day cruise on the Queen Mary 2 Ocean Liner!) and it’s so charming and beautiful that I get inspired to journal more just looking at it. (Sadly, my journals look nothing like Susan Branch’s.)

Cook Something
I’m not sure what yet, but I’d love to buy the ingredients for something and make it on my own. A few weeks ago I made herb-cheddar biscuits from an out-of-the-box mix and they were delicious, so if all else fails I can fall back on those.

Stay on Top of Homework
There’s a lot I’ll still need to get done during break, but most of it isn’t too hard. My two main assignments are to take notes for a research paper and work on a proposal for my final English paper. (I wrote my first two on The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and Tina Fey’s movie Mean Girls. This time I’m thinking about writing about Crimson Peak.)

Doodle/Knit/do Something Crafty
I REALLY need to finish that scarf.

Do you guys have any plans for spring or spring break?
