Taking Stock: June

Candied Strawberries 딸기 사탕

"What form she pleased each thing would take...That e'er she did behold." Illustrated by Warwick Goble
Reading: The Journals of Dorothy Wordsworth, Surviving the Applewhites, Guards! Guards!
Making: Collages on my journal pages. All you need is a pair of scissors, some Scotch tape, and magazines to rip apart.
Wishing: To go to the beach. I miss the ocean.
Listening: To the Tarzan soundtrack. I love all Disney soundtracks, but this one just made it into my top three favorites (the other two are Hercules and Treasure Planet).
Watching: The Walking Dead, Raising Hope, Parks and Recreation.
Enjoying: Less-than-scorching-hot weather. I’ve been outside a grand total of two times in the past two days, but still….
Wanting: A desktop like this.
Wondering: If I should start knitting again. I made hats, washcloths, gauntlets, cup cozies, baby blankets, scarves, and purses before I quit two years ago. I've been wondering if I should start again ever since.
Drooling: Over candied strawberries. I had them at a friend’s birthday and they were beyond amazing.
Writing: Notes and story ideas and more notes.
Praying: I’ll get a first draft of something finished before the end of summer.
Needing: To read more.
Admiring: Tasha Tudor. I’ve mentioned her on the blog before. There’s something incredibly inspiring about living your life exactly as you want to live it, even if that includes corsets and wood-burning stoves.
Waiting: For my copy of Onyx, the newest issue of White Ash Literary Magazine. One of my stories will be printed in it!
Loving: Warwick Goble’s fairy tale illustrations. He might be the subject of my next Artist Spotlight. What do you think?

  1. I very much approve of your Disney choices! Do you want to start knitting again? Because if you want to, then you should. Candied strawberries sound a-maz-ing, but that is partially because strawberries are my favorite fruit. Sounds like you're in a fun place right now! :)

    1. I probably will start knitting again--I just need to find a pattern I like and stock up on some supplies. We also tried candied grapes, which were pretty good, too (but not as good as the strawberries). Thanks for commenting!

  2. (Did you take that photo yourself! It's awesome!)

Disney soundtracks are wonderful. I mean, I still think the Star Wars soundtrack tops everything, but Disney is great too. OMG YOU SLAY ME WITH YOUR KNITTING SKILLS. I can barely manage a scarf. You should absolutely knit.

    1. Sadly, no. I'm a terrible photographer :(
The Star Wars soundtracks are amazing, as well, and I also love the soundtracks for the movies Batman Begins, Gladiator, Braveheart...the music for the TV show The Walking Dead is great, too. I'm always on the lookout for more music, which is one reason why I love your #WatchMeWrite videos. Thanks for commenting!

  3. I also ADORE Treasure Planet. The movie and the soundtrack. So good…
You talk about writing and note taking- are you working on a story currently? Are you going to try your hand at the Five Spindles Contest?
And congrats on getting a story in Vol. 5 of White Ash! I have one in there too!!! Can't wait to read yours! ^^

    1. In my opinion, Treasure Planet is THE best and most under-appreciated Disney movie of all time. It's great to find a fellow fan!
I am (finally) working on a story--the one about pirates that I talked about in my post on mood boards. It still feels pretty rough and nebulous to me, but I'm very excited to see where it goes :) And I can't wait to read your story in White Ash--I'm so excited for when my copy comes in the mail :)
